Indepth Introduction
January 20, 2012
For my indepth project this year I have decided to do cake decorating. First of all, it is something I really enjoy. I know a couple of the basics in cake decorating since I took a class last year but I didn’t ever get the chance to learn as much as I would have liked. I realized that indepth was the perfect opportunity to develop my skills and learn many new ones. Secondly, I realized that if I decorated cakes for indepth, then I would also get to eat a slice or two afterwards.
Once I finally chose cake decorating I started to get some supplies for my project. While I was at Michaels getting a great deal on supplies, I found a flyer for some different classes in cake decorating. So I will be taking two hour classes each week in February and hopefully learn some new techniques. Here are a couple of pictures I found on the internet of professionally decorated cakes:
I doubt that my cakes will turn out like this after only five months but its pretty good inspiration. My mentor for this project is very experienced in cake decorating although she doesn’t do it professionally. I haven’t been able to communicate with her too much yet but as soon as I do I will post a bit more information on her.
